Thinner jaw and no apple chin

Masseter thinning

Thinning the lower face due to a thick masseter (chewing) muscle is a common treatment in our clinic. We see this particularly in patients who grind their teeth and in Asian patients. Generally treating this area twice over a six month period gives a pleasing result. It also helps with annoying grinding of the teeth. The masseter is treated in both the deep and superficial parts. The treatment takes a few days to be effective.

Chin dimpling

Apple chin is caused by an overactive Mentalis or chin muscle. This causes a dimpling in the area. A simple treatment is some botulinum toxin in the area which softens the chin within a week. We can add some dermal filler if the chin is weak which often leads to the dimpling
